The National Association of Certified Professionals of Equine Therapy includes our friends, The Certified Therapy Horse Association (CTHA®™), which certifies the third professional in EAP/EFT, the horse! Both organizations provide appropriations for scientific research in the field and a variety of support and prevention programs for low income children, at risk youth, veterans, and Native Americans. Our programs also include inspectors that ensure that certified horses are maintained above humane standards of treatment, medically, emotionally, physically, mentally and environmentally by documentation and on-site inspection. Deficiencies can be costly, due to fines and re-inspections; it can also result in the suspension and/or loss in certification of all the professionals; and a notification to the SPCA and their license/certification board’s in mental health, if applicable. Therefore, we have established a set of standards and ethics that each professional must meet and continue to keep in this scope of practice. We sponsor a national conference every year that continues to bring all these above issues to the public's awareness and professionals around the globe.
